Geological Survey of NSW Symposium: celebrating 150 years of discovery

Mark your calendars for an unmissable event! The Geological Survey of NSW Symposium will take place on 18 June 2025 at NEX Newcastle, celebrating 150 years of geological discovery and innovation.

The symposium will bring together geoscientists, industry professionals, and history enthusiasts for a full day of insightful discussions and networking opportunities between 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

A highlight of the event will be a keynote presentation by Melissa Harris PSM, the newly appointed CEO of Geoscience Australia. The symposium programme will explore the pioneering founders of the Geological Survey of NSW, its historical achievements, and key milestones in geological mapping and research. Attendees will also gain valuable insights into contemporary developments in NSW geological knowledge, presented by past and present Survey staff.

Beyond the rich scientific discussions, the symposium offers a prime opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and celebrate the legacy of geological research. A light morning tea will be provided from 10:30 to 11:00 am, followed by a networking lunch at 12:30 pm in The Avenue.

The day will conclude with a special ticketed Symposium Dinner at 6:00 pm, where attendees can continue conversations in a more relaxed setting.
